My Foolish Mistake in Dallas and What I Learned About Winging It

Fail to Plan and You Plan to Fail

by Cheryl

This past October, my grandpa turned 90! Family from all over the world (Hungary, Mexico, Germany, and of course the United States) flew into Texas to celebrate this special time.

It was the end of the travel season. I was burnt out from planning trips and outlining videos. I even bought my plane ticket with my personal credit card so I had no pressure to do anything YouTube related. This was a trip all about spending time with family, right?

The birthday celebrations were everything I dreamed they would be and I had a wonderful time reconnecting with my family. But then we decided to take a day trip to Dallas.....

I’d heard that there was the JFK Assassination site in town and that the museum was really good. That was the extent of my planning.

We drove to Dallas, spent a while looking for a parking spot, took a few wrong turns, and walked 30 minutes to the museum. All to find out the museum was sold out for the day. We made the best of it by looking at the sights outside but I really feel like I missed out and let my family down.

Of course, there is no such thing as a perfect vacation, but I can’t help but think that spending a bit of time preparing could have made a big difference.

It’s hard to find the time to do the research to really create a high-quality trip itinerary. But it is so necessary if you really want to see the best of a destination.

We are constantly making new videos and writing new blog posts about our travels in the West. Whether you prefer to piece the trip together yourself or purchase one of our travel itineraries we hope you have an incredible trip.

Our itineraries will save you tons of time, let you know what reservations you need and most of our travel itineraries even come with an audio guide-all to help you make the most of your vacation.
